Europeana Newspapers

Europeana Newspapers is a European Commission-funded project which has provided online access to around 12 million pages of historical newspapers from 23 European libraries and metadata relating to more than 20 million newspaper pages. The content made available by the project is available both through Europeana and also via a dedicated newspaper browser hosted on The European Library which gives the possibility to perform full-text search or explore the newspapers in various ways (e.g. by date, country, title). Recently also dumps of full-text for approximately 5 million public domain newspaper pages have been freely released. Open source tools relating to the projects workflow are available on GitHub.
